Pitch Black is an upcoming 3SN hardware network appliance built for teams that do not tolerate surprises at the perimeter.

This is a product update and early announcement. Pitch Black is Coming Soon.

If you want the overview first, start here:

Why we’re building Pitch Black

Most organizations already have perimeter controls. The problem is not having zero tools. The problem is operating under pressure with tools that create noise, hide context, or force brittle complexity.

Pitch Black is being built to keep perimeter defense in scope:

  • Inline enforcement (edge)
  • Explicit policy (what’s allowed, what’s denied, what requires review)
  • High-fidelity logging designed for investigations
  • Remote management for distributed environments

We’re not chasing feature sprawl. We’re aiming for operator-grade clarity.

What Pitch Black is (high level)

Pitch Black is a hardware edge appliance designed to sit at the outside perimeter of the network and provide a focused, controllable enforcement and visibility layer.

It’s built to be deployable in real environments:

  • Pre-firewall: upstream interception to reduce downstream load and improve signal quality
  • Post-firewall: a dedicated layer inside the perimeter for enforcement + logging
  • No firewall: perimeter enforcement and logging even in firewall-less environments

What “Coming Soon” means

Pitch Black is in the stage where correctness and operational ergonomics matter more than speed.

“Coming Soon” means:

  • We’re finalizing validated deployment guidance for common topologies
  • We’re hardening the operator workflows so changes stay controlled and understandable
  • We’re aligning early pilots to ensure the system behaves predictably in the field

We will not publish timelines we cannot stand behind.

Capabilities (kept deliberately focused)

Pitch Black is built around a simple promise: clear decisions at the edge, with logs you can act on.

Expected capabilities include:

  • Inline enforcement as a dedicated decision point at the perimeter
  • Central policy patterns for consistent behavior across sites
  • Operator-grade logging for response, review, and accountability
  • Remote management workflows for controlled change
  • Flexible placement (pre-firewall, post-firewall, or no firewall)
